A usb extender allows extension of 1 to 4 USB peripheral devices up to 330 feet away from the host device. These extensions can be done via Cat5/Cat6 cables, Fiber optic cables or through Wireless technology. The connections secured through the former connect the local transmitter and remote receiver of the extender using Cat5 cable whereas the second category connects them via fiber optic cables. The latter uses an 802.11 type connection for interlinking the two units. These devices save desktop space and eliminate computer noise in the work area.

There is no requirement for device drivers in order to run this Extender and the set up is simple plug and play. Available in various models, one of the most preferred types is the wireless usb extender. Working on Icron’s patented Extreme USB technology, this device supports both low speed USB 1.1 and high speed USB 2.0 devices. Devices such as printers, cameras, hard drives and scanners are supported by this extender and can be extended to a distance of 30 meters. An ideal solution for schools, SOHO business, conference rooms, hotels; this product supports all USB transfer types – Control, Bulk, Interrupt and Isochronous. This extender hub is a four-port hub and dongle set with additional hub connections supported for more devices. It is equipped with user selectable radio channel to improve co-existence with deployed 802.11 networks.

The USB 2.0 Extender supports USB 2.0 peripheral devices at speeds up to 480 Mb/s and is quick and economical. It provides seamless access to higher performance applications with little or no downtime. Offering multi platform support, these devices work well with Windows XP, Vista and MAC OSX. Greater USB 2.0 functionality is assured as the extended peripherals perform as if connected locally. USB 2.0 is forward and backward compatible with original USB, and uses the same cables and connectors. The two components of this product, the transmitter and receiver, connect to the host computer and provide four device ports for connection of peripheral devices. The link performance status is provided by the LEDs. The USB Extender is an ideal solution for applications where one peripheral device needs to be operated remotely.
